At Fern & Fir, every pair of earrings is handmade with care, using high-quality materials and thoughtful design. To ensure your jewelry lasts and stays beautiful, here’s how to properly care for each type.
Caring For Your Fern & Fir Jewelry
Polymer Clay Earrings
Our polymer clay earrings are molded by hand, custom color-mixed, and sometimes enhanced with gold foil, glitter, or painted accents. After shaping and curing, each piece is sanded, drilled, and assembled using high-quality findings.
Polymer clay is strong, but intricate designs require gentle handling.
Storage Tips:
Store in a dry place where they won’t be bumped or crushed.
Avoid placing heavy objects on top of them.
Keep them in the box they came in or hang them safely on a jewelry stand.
Cleaning Tips:
Avoid wearing while applying makeup, hairspray, or perfume.
If makeup gets on them, gently wipe with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol.
Avoid using alcohol on areas with foil or painted detail, as it may remove the finish.
Acrylic Earrings:
Our acrylic earrings are laser cut from high-quality acrylic sheets and finished by hand.
Care Tips:
Acrylic can scratch easily—use a soft cloth to clean.
Standard gentle household cleaners are safe to use.
Storage:
Keep in a dry place.
Hang or store them in a protective box when not being worn.
Brass Components:
Some styles include brass accents that may naturally tarnish over time. You can refresh them easily at home.
Cleaning Options:
Use a small amount of Brasso with a polishing cloth.
Or try a DIY method: rub ketchup onto the brass, let it sit briefly, rinse, and dry completely.
Silver Components:
Some styles include sterling silver that may naturally tarnish over time. You can refresh them easily at home.
Gently wipe with a polishing cloth.

Stickers
Longevity
UV laminate protects from fading, but try to avoid leaving stickers in direct sun for long periods.
Avoid dishwashers, as the high heat and detergents can shorten sticker life. "Hand Wash Only"
Allow stickers to set for 24–48 hours before getting them wet.
Application
Clean the surface with mild soap and water, then dry completely.
For best adhesion, wipe with rubbing alcohol or an alcohol pad before applying.
Make sure the surface is smooth—stickers do not adhere well to rough or textured finishes.
Press firmly and smooth out any air bubbles.
Cleaning
If applied to drinkware (water bottles, tumblers, mugs): hand wash only.
Avoid dishwashers, as the high heat and detergents can shorten sticker life.
Wipe gently with a damp cloth if placed on laptops, tablets, or other electronics.
